Paul Kilgore is a charter member of Wise County  Historical Society and is very knowledgeable in researching deeds and other court documents, helping hundreds of folks coming to Wise county to research their families.  He also helps many people with their research by corresponding by mail.  Paul is very thorough with his research, comparing one document against another until he comes up with the right information.  He is the Sherlock Holmes of Wise County Historical Society for certain  solving many mysteries.

In addition to his work in court records, he has also visited and documented 95 % of all the cemeteries in Wise County.  He has several of them  compiled in book form which sells at the office.  If you happen to meet a tall thin man, with pencil and notepaper, that's Paul.  Ask him anything you want and  chances are you can't stump him with a question on Wise County history or its people.  Paul keeps the Historical Society's office open on Tuesday afternoon.

Paul provided all the information from his personal research on the City of Norton chapter for the book The Heritage of Wise County and The City of Norton published  by The Wise County Historical Society.
