Wise County Historical Society office is located in the Wise County Courthouse- room 250. The office is staffed by volunteers. Hours are Monday - Thursday: 9:00 - 4:00 and Friday: 9:00-12:00
Come in and browse the bookstore and archives or just visit. If you
need help with family history this is the place to start. Volunteers are
there to help with family or area history research. From the establishing of the Historical Society to the present the Historical Society has published six books. Our objective is to promote historical studies, by the collection and preservation of historical manuscripts, and for kindred purposes in the best interest of southern Appalachian regional history and history in America. Also to aid in the research of genealogical history and preserve it for future generations. The Appalachian is published by the Wise County Historical Society and available at the Bookstore and by mail. For Subscription to the magazine and to become a member of the Historical Society see Order Information in Bookstore Note: We regret to inform you that due to rising costs the Appalachian will cease with the October issue. The October issue will be delayed by two to three weeks. The Appalachian October issue will be $6.00
